Deleting Lines in Dayfile Editor

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Deleting Lines in Dayfile Editor

Post by apple8 »

I noticed some odd readings for Jan23 in Reports, Records and Trends. An example, in Reports for Annual23 the low temperature in January is 0o degrees on the 23rd and in monthly Jan23 a low of 16.8o.

Further investigation found there are three entries for the 23/01/23 in the day file editor. I tried to delete one of the lines in the editor but it had no affect on hitting the delete button on the pop up. So how can I fix this?

Easiest way: shutdown CMX, edit dayfile.txt in an appropriate editor (e.g. notepad++) and delete two of the three lines (the selection is yours, they probably won't be the same)

Could you also post the MXdiags file for when you tried the delete. I have tested deleting single and multiple lines again, and it is working for me.

It looks like either; not all the files from the latest /interface folder have been copied over, or you need a browser cache flush to pick up the latest files.

Ok I’ll try the cache flush in the morning and see what happens.

The other thought I had reading another post about “object reference not set” would it be related to being on build 3220 and not 3221.

b3220 did see the change that is likely to induce this error with a stale cache - the ability to perform deletes of multiple lines in one go. But as that release was a while ago, it is unlikely to be a stale cache issue.

No luck after updating to build 3221 or clearing cache. So used HanR's suggestion to edit the dayfile.txt.

Are you sure you copied ALL of the files from the release to your folder as mine is working fine as well.

I believe so. After extracting the zip file I copy/paste the CumulusMX folder to C: after renaming a copy of the old MX folder.

Could you post a zipped up copy of your dayfile?

Here is the one with the duplicate lines. Just
Copy of dayfile.zip

I have the same issue. After a problem with the WS80 (hanging wind spike) I wanted to delete the erroneous entries in the logfile.
That unfortunately does not work.

Logfile attached (first without subsequently with DEBUG), look for api/edit

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to this. I put the day file you posted above into my copy of CMX, and....
It deleted the extra 23/01/23 lines without any error!

As I cannot reproduce the error, I am going to need a bit more diagnostics from you or Hans.

1. Take a copy of your dayfile.txt first.

2. You will need to load the browser developer tools, and when you send the delete to CMX, on the network tab, could you find the line that has:
Name = "dayfile"
Path = "/api/edit/dayfile"

3. Open that entry by clicking it, and select the Payload tab. Cut and paste the contents of that tab here please.

4. Stop CMX, restore the backed up copy of the dayfile, and restart CMX.

Thanks
