Version 1.8.3 is online.

This is also a maintenance release. The French site is working OK and I haven't heard yet from Piotr yet but by the look of it both are OK now.
So everybody is now running predictions on pwsFWI. Wow!
See release notes for some minor fixes.

Time for a break, be back for the analysis 8-)

I now have the actual data for the first 5 days prediction calculated on October 30th.
The actual FWI was -5% for the day 1 prediction, -12% for day 2, +3% for day 3, correct for day 4, and +1% for day 5 prediction.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Thnx for the sheet, took me few seconds to understand how to read it, but when you see the coloured diagonals it goes very well.
I will eventually bring all input to a single format for clarity so maybe I will lose something there.

And I still can't read your site (anyway, definitely not your fwi-page) while all other sites all over the world are fine.

Best, Hans

Gi Hans,
And I still can't read your site (anyway, definitely not your fwi-page) while all other sites all over the world are fine.
My domains are komokaweather.com and www.komokaweather.ca
My GoDaddy hosting account is komokaweather.com and that is the home for my very modified Cumulus standard template.
My domain www.komokaweather.ca reroutes to my Saratoga site www.komokaweather.com/komokaweather-ca and this had been working quite well for years. Now I find that www.komokaweather.ca is extremely slow to load and presumably that is what you are running in to for www.komokaweather.ca/wxFWI.php

Try it as the full path www.komokaweather.com/komokaweather-ca/wxFWI.php
The Saratoga site flyout menu Fire Weather has the full path link www.komokaweather.com/komokaweather-ca/wxFWI.php so that seems to work fine, but you need to get in to the Saratoga site home page first to be able to see that menu ;)
If you are successful to see it you are in for a good surprise!

Enjoy,
Paul

Version 1.8.4 is online

This is maintenance and includes a - I think important, at least for Harm who uses m/s for wind speed - fix for the unit issue. Until now prediction could only be used if the units of the user were km/h, deg C, mm and hPa. Now all possible settings possible of units in Cumulus should work equally well with the pwsFWI prediction feature. If you use deviations of units, please look sharply for anomalies (aka bugs). Still waiting for my first imperial unit user.

I am looking forward to your analysis sheets, If you have 7 predictions with corresponding calculations, that should be enough I guess. (meteosangonera's sheet can be followed online, PaulMy's sheet you can read yourself). The first indications are surprisingly - yes, I am surprised :o - accurate predictions if we use the two day ahead prediction.

Hi, I will start writing my blog on analysis of the prediction. I received datasheets from Harm, Paul and meteosangonera. If you think your data are useful, please send through PM,mail or here in the thread. Thanks.

Please note the other non-technical thread on the behavioural testing which becomes interesting in Australia.

Hi Phil,
That was not the analysis I was looking for. But never mind, I understand your mind is a bit 'on fire' now.
Wish you all the best there down under.
In the Netherlands it's pretty much all over the news and I do some tweeting about it.
Cheers, Hans

Funny how the brain works.

I mentioned that the GO button was on the left of the drop down & went against mental logic.
I noted it every time I moved the mouse to it.

Now it's on the right, and it's taken me days to realise & register it's actually changed.

Obviously the mind was no longer sending up that red flag.

Fires here have calmed a bit over the past 2 days, but expecting the weekend will lead to changes.

Phil.
