Inside Temp Offset
Inside Temp Offset
I have recently obtained and set up a WH1081 with the latest build of Cummulus. My WH1081 seems to have an offset error on the inside temperature sensor. Is there a way to correct for that error within Cummulus. I have found how to correct errors in the external sensors but cannot find how to correct the inside sensor. Did I miss something ?
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Inside Temp Offset
I haven't done an offset for the inside temperature, but I could add one. It scares me a bit, though, after the fiasco with the original facility

Re: Inside Temp Offset
Don't worry about it - it's too embarrassing to think about. Let's just say it wasn't the best piece of code I've ever written. I think all the bugs are out now, though.
Out of interest, how far out do you reckon your inside temp is?

Re: Inside Temp Offset
Just out of interest I have a small digi thermometer here which shows 73.6f and the station shows 71.6f

Re: Inside Temp Offset
OK about he code Steve! I must say I am very impressed with Cumulus since using it from Dec 27th. I reckon you have done a very good job.
My inside temperature sensor seems to read about 1.5degC low. The external sensors all seem fine.

Re: Inside Temp Offset
My inside is offset by about 1.5degC lower
I have been playing for days trying to get my outside to read right against an external temp sensor, and no matter what I set things at its still between 0.5 and 1.0degC out. I managed to get it right once then the temp dropped to a minus figure and had the same problem again...

Re: Inside Temp Offset
Interesting that a number of us are seeing the same negative offset.
If you could consider adding a feature to correct the inside sensors I think that would be great Steve.

Re: Inside Temp Offset
I'll do the temperature one. Is there any point doing humidity - most people won't have the facility to accurately measure their humidity to know how to correct it anyway, I'd have thought. I assume those using an outside humidity correction are getting a reference figure from somewhere else...

Re: Inside Temp Offset
The humidity part is pretty much spot on for me, on say with reference to BBC, Weather Channel.

Re: Inside Temp Offset
I find my temperatures from the 1081 pretty close, usually within a degree or so, but may I suggest you double check your digi thermometer.
Often their specs are +- a "few" degrees at the lower end. Particularly if they are "domestic" models I have tried 3 different types and they all vary by 3 or 4 degrees against a standard.

But presumably you have no way of knowing how accurate your inside humidity is...Jonsey wrote:The humidity part is pretty much spot on for me, on say with reference to BBC, Weather Channel.

Re: Inside Temp Offset
I think my problem with the Maplin N96FY (which I believe is identical to the 1081) is that the touch screen is mounted on the wall near the corner of the room, and the temperature in the habitable part of the room is a degree or two higher, and that is the temperature I would like to record.

Re: Inside Temp Offset
Good point.
I only intend to do an 'offset' for inside temperature (i.e. an add or subtract) and not a multiplier.

Re: Inside Temp Offset
That is true Steve, but im more interested about the external readouts rather than the inside. But does come in handy tho, so wouldn't dismiss it completly.steve wrote:But presumably you have no way of knowing how accurate your inside humidity is...Jonsey wrote:The humidity part is pretty much spot on for me, on say with reference to BBC, Weather Channel.
