I did this a few years ago and it does work.

Only difference is I didnt cut the cable, I took it apart
and went to the circuit board.

Must be something in the water ..............

Mine has run for a few years after that mod now I get a 114mph gust at least once per day.
It is always 114 , at different times - could it have gone bad or just could it be a calc error when it reaches a certain level or something -

Thanks

Our station behave in a similar fashion, but using the Cumulus spike option the problem was solved.

As I told Ron in reply to the PM he sent me, for this strange maximum value, you can also use the LCMaxWind setting in cumulus.ini, as 114 mph is apparently above the maximum value for the station anyway.

There has been some recent solar flare activity, and geomagnetics are unstable - and LaCrosse anemometer cables are very susceptible to 'interference !

Hi Steve

Thanks for your input. The main problem is for some reason even when
the gust is in single digits it sometimes shows 114mph.
My next step is to put Ferrite Core at each end of the cable -
maybe that will help.

Does the LCMaxWind setting not work? 114 mph = 50.1 m/s, so setting LCMaxWind to 50 or 49.9 should filter those out, if it works as intended.

I changed the LCMaxWind setting - so far so good.

What value did you set LCMaxWind to in cumulus.ini? Did you put it in the [Station] section? Did you edit cumulus.ini with Cumulus stopped?

Hi Steve

In ini station section it is

Gust 34.4
Speed 33.5

My first change was 49.9

The original 49.9 change was done in calibration settins tab
these 34/33 are done in ini file with it all shut down.

But the setting which will take out the 114 mph readings is LCMaxWind; what have you set that to?
