Meteohub => Cumulus via http logging protocol?

Post by skyewright »

Hi Steve,

Might you consider adding Meteohub as a data source for Cumulus?
Meteohub isn't a weather station itself, it is instead a weather data logger that can be fed from a range of different weather stations. Other software can then access that data via a http based logging protocol which is documented here.

The protocol can be used both to collect logged data and current data using calls such as

Code: Select all

http://IP.or.domain.here/meteolog.cgi?type=xml&mode=data&start=20080227183500&end=20080227183600

Code: Select all

http://IP.or.domain.here/meteolog.cgi?type=xml&mode=data&start=20080227183500
etc.

Because the protocol is http based the hardware that Meteohub is running on can be remote from the PC. If you are interested in the possibility of adding Meteohub as a data source, I'd be more than happy to provide you with http access to my device for testing purposes.

What do you think?
Regards
David

Interesting...

First of all, in Cumulus 2, I will certainly look into doing this. But that will be some time away. I am trying to wind down development on this version, but even then, with the time I spend answering queries (most of which aren't problems in Cumulus) here and in email, I don't know when I'll find the time to get back to Cumulus 2 at all.

But... as this looks quite interesting, and the protocol is well documented, and I could test it from here... I might just be tempted to put it into this version of Cumulus.

Boris (the Meteohub author) is a developer I have a lot of respect for, and the clarity of his documentation would put many a native English speaker to shame! :D

If you do decide to give it a go you are welcome to any help that I can offer - either on Forum or direct or both, whatever you prefer.
