Mixed content & CumulusRealTimeLocation

Post by HansR »

A small note because of a recent issue.

If you define your CumulusRealTimeLocation as http://<domain> and the site is accessed by a user through https, CUtils is trying to fetch its data from the insecure specification and you will get nothing. In the console you will see things like:
    Schermafbeelding 2023-10-31 123955.png
The remedy is making a relative definition of CumulusRealTimeLocation (or use https in an absolute URL).

Modern browsers do no longer accept the so called 'mixed content' and they regard it as a security issue. :!:

You may say that a weather site is not a bank, but that won't help, https access by remote users is beyond your control.
Internet is bigger than you. You have to live with this.

There is no support nor solution for this from my side.
Use the relative definition or https of CumulusRealTimeLocation or don't get accessed.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I've got a feeling I've edited that line a couple of times recently, almost as if it was reverting.
Have seen the entry actually missing on one occasion.

Does utils make any call to MX to read this location from CMX's ini?

No. CumulusRealTimeLocation is not a CMX parameter and is read-only in CUtils i.e. it is configurable by the user and does not get changed by the software. So the only way to revert that value to an old value (or empty the value) is by replacing cumulusutils.ini by an old version of the file (through a backup or similar).
