Hi Gary, and welcome to Cumulus and the forum.
The Wiki https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Main_Page is the main source for using Cumulus. There are a few forum members and Cumulus users who have been adding and maintaining the WiKi. It is a great resource but likely not a full HowTo. Mark, the current CumulusMX developer, tries to log the changes with each new version release in the update.txt file that comes with each zip.

With the exception of a few settings, like the units of measurement which should not be changed after you first start CumulusMX, settings can be changed at your will without affecting your data files. The first run prompts you to the Wizard which guides you for the basic settings to run CumulusMX. Most settings will take effect after you [Save] a settings page. Some may need a stop and restart to take effect, and which is quite easy to do. I suggest that after you have run CumulusMX and done the initial (Wizard) settings you go through each setting section and click on each
item and subitems and try to understand what the setting is about. Most are self explanatory. And make sure you [Save] before exiting any setting page. Going through the whole settings gives you a better understanding and feel of what is available. I still do that with any significant version release just to make sure I am familiar and up to date on new features.

And of course, most forum members and Cumulus users are more than willing to assist and share their experience to any questions you may have.

Enjoy,
Paul
