For consideration....

CMX Upgrade Available Flashing.gif

How about the ability for the Upgrade available notification to be a hotlink to take you directly to the newest version download page?
https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Software#Current_Release

There are so many steps to upgrade that any amount of simplification and help, makes the process that much simpler.

This leads to a wiki article. Would it also be possible to make a direct link to the 'current' archive ?
So without knowing or reading anything, that link would simply immediately start the download of the 'current' zipfile.

I'll link to the last page of the release announcements thread.

galferts link would take you to the download page, it would not download the zip though.

For my goal - download directly from the installation procedure for an automatic update - would really require a link to the zipfile.
So I would need a ljnk which would guaranteed be pointing to the latest zip, not a page.

I feel like a opened a can of worms. I want the Wiki refence page to then download it myself. Mark seems to think the release notes (which have no download link) is best, and HansR wants a direct link to the newest version.

We can't make everyone happy.

I think I would prefer the release notes too if they also contained a download link. I think it is important to read the release notes before blindly just upgrading.

Personally I subscribe to the release notes thread as I barely use the admin webgui and the release note have some important notes to some versions of update.

I visit here daily and if there is an update to CumulusMX version I'll see it in the notifications.

I would have ever love to see tapatalk plugin on this forum so I can read these forums from my phone with ease. but then again that's another request

To add some clarity...
Please take no insult into my comment. I merely stated that everyone has a different and valid preference of what what would be ideal. Rolly eyes was not directed at you personally. It was just saying, "okay it isn't so simple and now here we go...lets figure it out." Just saying this issue will be one of those things that needs either compromise or a novel solution. I'm a respectful and nice guy.
