Degrees symbol encoding

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

How did you get it working Tony? It still doesn't work for me.

If I type ALT+0167 min the text file (Saved as UTF-8) I get °C in the processed file. If I manually save the file as ANSI, it shows correctly, but Cumulus MX changes the file back to UTF-8 and I end up with °C again.

I've tried everything to no avail.

OK, well I have now sorted it after a lot of searching and trying various things.

On my mini-pc I had to go to Settings > Time & language > Language & region > Administrative language settings > Change system locale, and check "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" and then reboot, just to get the degrees symbol without the space character before it.

The question is though, I thought that if you don't have UTF-8 checked in CMX "Extra Web Files" then it leaves the encoding to whatever is set in the text file?

It always changes it back to UTF-8 no matter what you save it as.

I'm still confused as to why Tony @ beaumaris weather said his problem was fixed lol

The template file encoding is irrelevant, MX saves the destination file with the encoding specified in the config (from b4019 onwards).

So there was no way to have the file saved as ANSI then?

My apologies for late reply, I have been in hospital from 10th April (over 4 hour operation) only got home late last night 12th April.
After this post I will not be online much over the next month while recovering.

My problem was fixed Tina !

Using b4019. Not installing b4020 in my current condition.

My "CamtextT.txt" is saved as ANSI.
It contains :

Code: Select all

<#time> Temp: <#temp>°C MaxTemp: <#tempTH>°C @ <#TtempTH> MinTemp: <#tempTL>°C @ <#TtempTL> Pressure: <#press> hpa
Rain: <#rfall> mm Wind(avg): <#wspeed> km/h Wind(dir): <#wdir> Max Gust: <#wgustTM> km/h @ <#TwgustTM> Humidity: <#hum> %
I process it without UTF-8 checked and it saves to my HaydesCanyon windows10 PC in my IPTimelapse folder. It stays as ANSI and displays as desired when overplayed on webcam images.

Output is "Camtext.txt" and is still ANSI.

Code: Select all

11:00 on 13 April 2024 Temp: 19.7°C MaxTemp: 19.8°C @ 10:58 MinTemp: 11.7°C @ 01:07 Pressure: 1018.3 hpa
Rain: 0.0 mm Wind(avg): 4.8 km/h Wind(dir): WSW Max Gust: 17.7 km/h @ 09:57 Humidity: 67 %
Wrapped with the outcome, thanks again Mark.

Kindest Regards,

Hi Tony.

That's exactly the same thing as I did/do. 4020 changes mine back to UTF-8 with UTF-8 unchecked though.

Get well soon mate. :)

Cheers matey, oh bummer, I'll leave mine at b4019 until I'm a bit better and Mark gets a chance to look at it after his walk.
