Adding temperature sensor

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Adding temperature sensor

Post by Albert Dulfer »

I have a WeatherFlow Tempest system. It does not have an indoor temperature sensor. Is it possible to add a third party indoor temperature sensor and have Cumulus recognise it as Indoor Temperature or as an extra sensor? If so, any suggestions as to how to do this.

I don't know anything about the Tempest system, and if it is possible to expand it with additional temperature sensors.

But you could add an Ecowitt sensor and have Cumulus MX read it as an extra temperature sensor. You can map extra T/H sensors to replace your main outdoor values, but unfortunately not the indoor. You would have to leave it as an extra sensor.

You would have to buy an Ecowitt Gateway device (GW1100/GW1200), plus the extra sensor like the WN31 (WH31). The gateway will support adding lots of additional sensors in the future should you need them.

Thanks Mark.

Seems it would be easier to buy the Ecowitt weather system outright!

Well you could add the extra TH sensor for now (not too expensive even with the gateway), then use that as the basis of the main station if/when the Tempest goes faulty.
