From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

is this normal?

Post by Nossie »

Hi, can I check here - does this look like normal data?

Thanks,
Ian.

.... aside from the fact I used the wrong sensor and then switched it back - it's the co2 data I'm mostly interested in checking

Here is what I typically see:

Your numbers seem reasonable - but depends on people in the area, ventilation (air changes/hour) etc. so all I can say is reasonable.

it's more the bar data I'm worried about .... you don't seem to have any obvious bar graphs

I don't think those are bars - thats where the data drops to zero for some reason. I have seen this with my Ecowitt extra sensors - if I recall its when I restart Cumulus I think. For some reason your data is dropping out.

How does the Ecowitt communicate with Cumulus?

Hi Guy,

All the sensors and the station are within 35 feet or so. They communicate via radio but the CO2 sensor is plugged into AC on the ground floor of a two story house - display/receiver is on the top floor. I don't think it's a signal issue as the ecowitt data displays fine, batteries in the soil temp sensor have not been replaced yet but all the other sensors (and to be fair I have quite a collection now) seem to be working fine.

I do also have a GW2000 that's currently setup to manage water flow in the summer - I'm going to go turn that off and see if it makes any difference :bash:

.... nope, not that.

So the Ecowitt is the main station - not being used as a source for additional sensors?

@Mark

Have you any idea what might be causing the issues I have with these two sensors? The ground temperature appears to be getting a random figure from somewhere and the CO2 AVERARGE appears to be dropping out both on a semi regular interval.

Neither the receiver or the CO2 sensor is ever unplugged and the other pollutions sensors appear to be working fine. Ecowitt site appears to ignore the spurious data, if any - thanks!

The 2551 display/receiver also only shows the correct information
Ian.

Could you give a larger fragment of that logfile (say 100 lines before and 100 after)

Thanks. I think Mark has to look at this. The CO2 sensor is read in a different pass and I am not sure how the error and the CO2 reading are related.

I found the problem. Your temperature and humidity sensor #4 is only sending the temperature in the JSON (or at least the Ecowitt cloud API is). So MX is seeing it as malformed and throwing an exception when it tries to access the humidity values. It should really cope with this; I'll add it to the to-do list. (but, even if the sensor is bust, I think the Ecowitt API should still send the fields, but with dashed out values)

Code: Select all

        "temp_and_humidity_ch3": {
            "temperature": {
                "time": "1705042474",
                "unit": "℃",
                "value": "1.7"
            },
            "humidity": {
                "time": "1705042474",
                "unit": "%",
                "value": "98"
            }
        },
        "temp_and_humidity_ch4": {
            "temperature": {
                "time": "1705042474",
                "unit": "℃",
                "value": "-29.5"
            }
        },
Meantime, check your sensor, and if that is OK, is the hum data shown on the Ecowitt web site? If it is then it's a support call with Ecowitt.
