Daily Rainfall Edit

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Daily Rainfall Edit

Post by Paul C »

Hi

Happy New Year to everyone.

I am fortunate to have a Met Office Rain Gauge, which I use for my weather statistics. My Davis VP2 also records the rainfall which is used for my website and day to day graphs and charts. As with many bits of weather equipment there is a a discrepancy between the two rain gauges. Over the last year I have tried to calibrate the VP2 via Cumulus MX and is now not far off my Met gauge. But I would prefer for rainfall at least the two to be the same.

So I have turned to the Edit function of Cumulus MX - and have edited the daily file, changing the rainfall value to match my Met Rain Gauge. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to alter values shown in the rest of Cumulus.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to alter the data. I have also noted it just wont allow me to change the last value and can only be done from the day before

Did you "Reload the dayfile" under Utils after you finished editing it?
Edit: Acutally you'll need to restart to fix the month, year etc totals.

I'll take a look at not being able to edit the last record....

The recent charts take their data from the log files and buffered data in the cumulusmx data base. The history charts from the day file, so they should be ok.

Cheers Mark

The "historic chart" is OK

But recent select a chart is still showing old value , should be 10.7mm

It will unless you are prepared to edit every entry in your monthly log file. Personally I'd just wait for it to "time out' from the recent charts. It will always be in the select-a-period unless you edit the log file though.

Hi Mark,

FYI - I've been having issues with my tipping spoon getting stuck so have had to edit my Dayfile rain data a few times over the last couple of weeks. I have not had any issues editing the last record.

Regards,
Trevor
