Storm Pia
Don't know if it is hitting anywhere else but the W - NW storm Pia is going to hit the Netherlands (and the coast of Germany and Denmark) pretty strong. Especially the tides in combination with the amount of rain which has fallen will give some headaches. See the screenshots of the tide diagram. With the rivers on high level (not extreme), the rain and the high tide during 24 hrs, we do run the - small - risk of getting wet feet. The cutouts in the dyke will be closed (that is a once per year (avg) operation) now being done for the second time in two months. Wind is just wind, the water push from the NW is the issue as usual. The sea level close to where I live is appr 2.5 - 3m above normal level and the canal waters is high (close to ground level).

UK swell weather can be accessed here and you can drill down to various tide locations. I use their website widgets to display local tides and swell at my location on my own website.

Re: Storm Pia
Well, the water engorgement by the wind in the German/Danish/Dutch Waddenzee did have some result: the (automatic) closing of all storm surge barriers in the Netherlands (six in total) and some flooding (photo's show Delfzijl) Btw: there is some 2m of water behind that wooden gate! A memorable moment in view of sea level rise.
