Re: Losing rainfall readings
Is the clock on your weather station set correctly?
Please zip up the diags folder and attach it.

Re: Losing rainfall readings
If it was a .zip file, it should have let you attach it. No-one else seems to have that problem. It's a bit tedious having to download all those separate files!

Re: Losing rainfall readings
All of the files are from this morning, so I can't tell what happened before that, but it seems your 'start of day' rain counter in today.ini somehow became slightly negative, so it assumed a reset had occurred and started counting again from the 9.84 value - which I think is actually your total for today? Is today the first time you have registered any rain?
If you stop Cumulus and edit the today.ini file, find the Start= line and change it to say Start=0, then when you start Cumulus again you should have today's rain back again.

Re: Losing rainfall readings
Thanks got the daily reading working. My next and hopefully final problem is that the 'This Month' and 'This Year' totals do not seem to be picking up the daily amounts. Any idea ? I've added my current yearly total of 282.0 mm to the 'station Configuration screen'

Re: Losing rainfall readings
It gets the monthly and yearly rain totals by adding up the daily totals in dayfile.txt. But you don't seem to have anything logged for the daily totals:
10/05/2011 11:24:20.157 : Getting rain totals, rain season start = 1
10/05/2011 11:24:20.157 : Rainthismonth from dayfile.txt: 0
10/05/2011 11:24:20.157 : Rainthisyear from dayfile.txt: 0
10/05/2011 11:24:20.157 : Adding YTD: 282
It also looks like your station's rain counter has reset to zero, and not for the first time. Cumulus doesn't seem to be able to get a reliable rain reading from your station, perhaps this accounts for your original problem.
10/05/2011 11:21:58.003 : WS2300: current rain total from station = 0

Re: Losing rainfall readings
Thanks for the feedback. Can I modify the TXT files to add in the rain from my spreadsheet for monthly and yearly ? If so can you advise an easy way of doing this or is it just a matter of trying to read the files
Thank
Brian

Re: Losing rainfall readings
You can edit dayfile.txt (with Cumulus stopped) to correct the daily totals - use a plain text editor, or the 'Toolbox', see the downloads page.

Re: Losing rainfall readings
Are you doing anything in the periods when you're not running Cumulus that might cause the rain counter to get reset? For example, when you closed Cumulus at about 2036 yesterday, the rain counter was reading 5.18, but when you started it again only a minute later, the counter had reset to zero - which is why you didn't get any rain logged for yesterday.

Re: Losing rainfall readings
Oh dear I think I know what the problem is and its my fault. I also run Heavyweather software but not at the same time. However I do use it to reset all the parameters. I have NOT done so since our last post and Cumulus has kept all the data. I stupidly thought that Cumulus kept a seperate database for the station weather but resetting the stations seems to cause this loss and thinking about it logically of couse it would because Cumulus would be updating all readings from the station base.
Sorry about that !
