Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi Steve This is the result of my hosepipe test - quite heavy 'rain' Incidentally I took Ole's advice and added a resistor (DTR - 800k resistor - +ve capacitor -ve - DSR) to avoid the relay arcing - I only had a bigger resistor than Ole recommended but it still works. Regards Alan 08:45:58.547 DSR c...

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi I had this message from Ole I guess it is contact bounce in the relay which is the cause – at every closure there could be an additional number of open/closures each only a fraction of a milli second. The capacitor can normally handle such problems but I would try out some lower values – reason i...

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi One thing I noticed about Bruce's debug log is that all the switching seems to occur within a single second. I am still getting correct ON/OFF (single) but there is at least 1 second between ON and OFF. I've contacted my electronics expert friend Ole to see if he can shed any light. Are you sure ...

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi
Could it be that the missing OFF is of such short duration that it is superceded by the ON and debug misses it but it is there really. Is there still a double count with on on off.

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi Steve
I'm no expert either but I thought the reasoning logical (though the 2 ON's is harder to fathom) - to add to the confusion - maybe adapters work differently to real serial ports.

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi Steve Is it possible that when the DSR goes high it causes the DTR to go low for some reason and my capacitor has the effect of holding the DTR line high. Without the capacitor DTR in the low state would leave DSR low and maybe allow DTR to go high again. As the relay is closed for 50ms there wou...

Re: Temperature sensor failure - best method of dealing with

Hi
Oddly enough my Fine Offset temperature sensor failed last week - maybe they're all susceptible to salty air.

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi No I haven't tried RTS/CTS - I don't really want to change things till I get some comprative data. If you mean the Cumulus multiplier (not the ini setting) and you have set the RG to 0.2 (and in the place of the FO bucket) then to convert from the FO unit (0.3) I guess its .66 I don't have enough...

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi I was getting on/off/on/off which the capacitor seems to have cured. Sometimes I'm getting the on followed by other debug log messages then the off but I think that is probably OK as they always appear in the correct order. Yesterday the RG11 was following the FO bucket quite well (about 1mm lowe...

Re: Hydreon RG-11 results

Hi
Rather than putting in daily figures I will post a weekly summary so that it would be easier to spot any pattern emerging. Could I humbly suggest others do the same.

Ignore first

Hi Steve I ticked ignore first - but it didn't (0.2 added) and when I looked again at the RG11 set up screen the tick had gone I tried editing ini manually ignorefirst=1 but it made no difference still got +.2 Silly me - I tried to edit with Cumulus running - but the first line still applies Regards...

Re: Hydreon double tips

Hi Duke Yes 10uF I know those more expert than I suggest it shouldn't work but for some reason it does. It's agreeing with the Cumulus station bucket at 3.7mm and 3.6 mm so far since 0900 but it could be that both are under reporting as the manual gauge is a lot higher (6mm the last time I looked). ...
