Re: Redesign of gauge?

Well, the maximum range for all users could be between -50 and +60 (in round numbers, if there are users in Death Valley and Antarctica  ) I picked -20 to +40 as that covers most temperatures experienced in the UK, but I also made two extra gauges of -50 to +10, and 0 to +60, with the idea that...

Re: Redesign of gauge?

Dan, what range(s) would you suggest? Ray, I have found a problem in the boxover.js script, line #30 adds a reference to an image file that does not exist (info.gif), I noticed when looking at my web server error logs. The original zip file nor the authors web page has the file either. So I have rem...

Re: Redesign of gauge?

Ray, I noticed that there was a slight problem with the barometer3 graphic - forgot to erase the ends of the circles when I saved as a PNG. Here is an updated version. I have some work in progress to produce dial gauges for the rest of the gauges page. The incomplete version is now on my live websit...

Rainfall Rate Calculation

A question for Steve on his return I guess... How does Cumulus calculate the rainfall rate for FO stations? I see it goes up in 0.9mm/h 'jumps', but the size of these jumps has remained at 0.9mm/h even though I have added a 0.25x multiplier into Cumulus to compensate for my 4x larger collection area...

Re: All-Time records - Reset to April 2010

I don't believe Cumulus has a mechanism for doing this. You would have to import the data into Excel and sort it to find the max/min values and corresponding dates/times.

Re: Redesign of gauge?

Dan, I think this is still a work in progress so you may want to wait for the final outcome :) Ray, I have zipped up a package of all my changes. This includes: updated the Windrose graphics, now has 2 sets of velocity figures in dark red updated barmoter graphic to have an opaque background (barome...

Re: Redesign of gauge?

I'll have another go in my lunch hour tomorrow. Maybe adding another set of numbers on the horizontal axis may improve it - you just need to be able to read one of the numbers on each circle. I guess that is why the original had four sets, but they are hard to read as they overlay the lines. Anyway ...

Re: Redesign of gauge?

How about these, any better? You need to change line 270 of dashboard.js to: tgd="<div id='wind' style='"+fst+"width:220px; height:220px;'><img src='dbimages/windrose"+maxspeed+".png'></div>"; I also think it is easier to read with bigger dots, so change line 290 to: jg...

Re: Redesign of gauge?

Ray I modified the original code that Steve grabebd from here: http://www.dandmbr.co.uk/jsgraphit/fwxcguide.htm I should have moved the changes over to the copy Steve uses - just in case he modified anything in there to work better with Cumulus. If you have found some problems with the script perhap...

Re: Redesign of gauge?

I should have said that I modified the orginal javascript not the Cumulus version. I think I only changed three lines of code #182, 184, and 186. Line 186 was just to make the pointer a bit longer.

Is that a hint about the windrose ;)

Re: Redesign of gauge?

Here is a version that has a gauge from 850 to 1050. You also need to replace the dashboard.js file so that the pressure values scale properly.

Edit: Attachments removed, see later post for updated versions

Re: Icelandic volcanic ash alert

Well airline 'executives' may have more commercial motives to get things flying than the scientists. I see the RAF grounded their Euro fighter training sorties after a single days flying resulted in ash deposit build-ups in some of the engines

Re: problem with cumulus toolbox at reboot

My guess would be your internet connection still initialising when toolbox starts? Maybe start it from a script and put a delay in of a minute or so? I expect Dave will have a proper answer for you :)

Re: Concentrate on Cumulus 1 or 2?

For me I am happy with Cumulus 1 as it is, I'd be happy for it to be moved into a maintenance status and you concentrate on getting Cumulus 2 up and running. I don't know but I suspect adding features to C1 is going to get harder and the code more difficult to maintain - best to start with the new t...
