Re: Dew point zero immediately after restart
No problem. Hopefully this new station will require restarts much less often

Re: Dew point zero immediately after restart
Sorry, brain fade, For dew point in the above read windchill.
The station is set as a WMR100 as recomended
The console always shows NA for windchill, but I think that's because it is very sheltered here.

Dew point zero immediately after restart
I have a new Oregon Scientific WMR180 and as recommended elsewhere on here I have Cumulus MX (3043) calculating the dew point. This works apart from the first logged value after a restart which is always zero. Zero dewpoint on restart.png Is the first line written to the log file before the first ca...

Re: Sort of hardware and software
Happily up and running with a WMR180, the Fine Offsets are all very well, and half the price of the Oregon Scientifics, but used to hang too regularly

Re: Sort of hardware and software
It's back (intermittent)
I think I'll try an Oregon Scientific next. I had one in the past and was happy with it- Thu 07 Sep 2017 11:10 pm

Sort of hardware and software
I think my console is broken, but it is in an interesting way (Fine Offset WH1081, Maplin N96FY). The console display is fine, but CumulusMX cannot read it (running on RPi3, Raspbian Jessie). After running for two years it has suddenly stopped making any sense. I have tried starting and stopping CMX...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script
More feedback on the init.d no start. You may recall that I had an 8GB SD Jessie Lite image that would boot and start cumulusmx and a 4GB image that would not. They were not identical but were built in the same way. I download Jessie Lite from raspbian.org and then add mono, Apache, etc. I then moun...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script
I need to double check it: Once you copied CumulusMX folder fomr the SSD to the SD card, the init.d Script worked and CumulusMX is being started ? Please answer because this is important. In this case, I should plug a USB Stick to my Raspberry to reproduce the problem. Yes, the 4GB does successfull...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script
Now it is time to create a DD Image which is possible, since you connected an external drive. While this is done, you don't need to stop your current CumusluMX weather software. How to create a DD Image: Option2: Use the commandline option: sudo mkdir /mnt/SSD/CumulusMX_Backup sudo dd if=/dev/mmcbl...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script
Sorry about the length of time this has taken, I've been away and the Pi stayed up all the time sudo cp -rp /mnt/SSD/CumulusMX/ /tmp/CumulusMX This will make a copy of the complete CumulusMX folder from your external device to the SD Card Now please change the path information in file /etc/init.d/cu...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script
Once this is done, please try again if this change is able to boot. I'll try this tonight If not,is it possible for you to create a DD Image of your SD Card and upload it somewhere on a drive where I can download it ? I am not sure if your onternet connection is fast enough ? I have 120Mbit/s so it...

Re: Cumulus MX 3038 and Error reading data from station
I believe the ethernet and the USB interface go through the same hardware at some point on the Pi? So perhaps use of the ethernet interface was somehow affecting the timing (or whatever) of the USB interface and causing the station's interface to lock up. Who knows - but that's an interesting disco...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script
@John: For testing, please change the permissions of both file sudo chmod 777 /etc/init.d/cumulusmx sudo chmod 777 /mnt/SSD/CumulusMX/cumulusmx.sh ...to exclude a "missing rights" problem. Since you are the only owner and user of the raspberryPi, it should not be a security hole :-) I so ...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script
you can compare the access right of the script with ls -al /etc/init.d/cumulusmx That is owned by root, but we know that runs OK. The problem is with /mnt/SSD/CumulusMX/cumulusmx.sh - we do not have any evidence of that running at boot time. Does the Jessie OS running init on the 4GB card have the ...
