Hi I also have a La Crosse WS2800 that has a solar powered wind direction and speed unit fixed on a long pole to the chimney stack been there two years now, it also has the rain and temperature of course. Alan

Extend the cables and bring the transmitter to just outside the window this is what I did but for a different reason also makes changing the batteries easy.Alan

Yes I have the same problem originals lasted 13 month then they have gone downhill ever since, tried 10 year batteries, Duracell you name it they only last a fortnight . Alan

My LaCrosse WS2800 is totally wireless solar powered wind & rain, C battery`s temperature & console USB dongle plugs into PC, but after startup on PC you do have to go and press SET on the console to make a connection. Alan

Have you used a extension cable and if so make sure you used a cable with 4 connecters using a cable with only 2 connecters will give you this problem.Alan

I also check my WH1090 with a manual rain guage and found it very accurate, not today though as there is about 2inch of snow on top of it. Alan
