Re: CUtils v7 upgrade notes
Looks good to me Hans. The only two issues I had to resolve are now noted so I'd have breezed through even quicker with the instructions as they are now. It's all working well which is excellent considering in the same session I migrated CMX/CU from Linux to Windows, upgraded CMX from v3 to v4, upgr...

CMXv4 upgrade with no issues
I can't see a general purpose thread about CMXv4, just some issues people have reported. I just wanted to say that my upgrade went very smoothly and I now have CMXv4018, plus Cutils7 and the modified WxSim all happily working side by side.

Re: CUtils v7 upgrade notes
I've just upgraded to v7 and it was a fairly painless exercise. Only a couple of things caught me out: 1) I didn't see this in the upgrade instructions - if you're using custom chart or menu definitions you need to copy the relevant .def files into the new CMU directory structure. 2) When running Cu...

Re: WWL missed broadcasts
Sorry. I sent you the wrong way. It's in the WeatherLink app. 1) Open the app 2) Click on the 'person' icon (top right) to get into your account 3) Click on the device you wan to change (you probably only have one) 4) Click on 'Edit' next to the device 5) Click on Network Settings 6) Click on Edit I...

Re: WWL missed broadcasts
That said, I run my WLL on WiFi It's really going to depend on local conditions. My house is full of smart WiFi devices, most of which are limited, like WLL, to 2.4GHz. I also have over 20 Zigbee devices in the house, all of which add yet more noise to the 2.4GHz band. Luckily our immediate neighbo...

Re: WWL missed broadcasts
You'll need to change the WLL config to use Ethernet rather than WiFi. This is done in the hardware settings in your weatherlink.com site. Not easy to find at first! You'll almost certainly see it as a different IP address. When it comes back up after the change you can update the static IP for the ...

Re: New device to run CMX (and more)
Another alternative to the Raspberry Pi which runs CMX and CU very well is the Khadas Edge-V Pro. During the couple of years when Raspberry Pi's were as readily available as hen's teeth I had to feed my SBC habit somehow, so I bought one of these and another Khadas SBC (Edge Pro). The Edge Pro has a...

Re: UV Axis scaling
v7.0 is fine. They're not catastrophic issues, just suggestions for minor improvements. I understand the issue of having too many options so not parameterising is good.

UV Axis scaling
Hans - I know you're busy with other stuff so I'm posting this so that I don't forget it. Friday was sunny...well winter sun with a clear sky which was nice for a change. Solar peaked at 250W/m2 and it was even clear enough to get a bit of UV, only reaching a maximum for the day of 0.6 though. This ...

WWL missed broadcasts
I posted this elsewhere but it's probably better here. I was plagued with intermittent, but often long-running, errors about missing WLL broadcasts. Sometimes I seemed to get an error about no broadcasts in the last 30 seconds every 30 second repeated many times over. Both my WLL and CMX server were...

Re: Sysinfo SystemInfoLinesToSkip
WLL broadcast errors - this is off topic but I thought it worth mentioning. I was plagued with intermittent, but often long-running, errors about missing broadcasts from WLL. Both my WLL and CMX server were WiFi based and due to a re-organisation of my house LAN I had the opportunity to put them bot...

Re: On the deprecation of FTP
It's free too. It mostly is but it depends on your hosting company. When selecting a hosting company check to see if they offer free certificates. I had a few domains hosted with a company who made it difficult, although not impossible if you knew what you were doing, to use LetsEncrypt certificate...

Re: On the deprecation of FTP
http will go but it will take much longer because it's used far more widely than FTP is (or was). Search engines are already putting http pages lower in the results list than https pages and browsers are starting to complain when you access http sites. So if you're not already using https it's worth...

Re: Charts does'nt work after update
That looks like a bunch of nulls inserted into the file. There looks to have been an outage at the time too with records 00:47, 00:48 then 02:04. Sometimes files get extra junk added onto the end of them to fill up to a 512/1024 byte boundary when they're closed unexpectedly. Ideally they should be ...

Thanks Hans. I'd seen that post but had forgotten that it mentioned the Heat Map. I'm glad one of us has a memory
