Re: Mono/Cumulus process getting into a high CPU state and losing comms

A quick update to close the loop on this discussion thread. It's now been a week since I rolled Mono back to version 6.8.0.123 and since then I’ve deliberately not made any other changes to the server and not done any updates or patches. After the roll back, CumulusMX has been super stable and I've ...

Re: Mono/Cumulus process getting into a high CPU state and losing comms

After resolving the usual dependency issues that come with rolling back to an older version of a package, I've now successfully installed version 6.8.0.123 of mono and didn't have any issues with starting CumulusMX as a service again. I'll monitor how things go and report back as to whether this add...

Re: Mono/Cumulus process getting into a high CPU state and losing comms

I've tried going back to b3122 (mainly because I had a backup for that version) and the problem persisted. In terms of the mono version, when I originally installed mono, I imported the RPM keys so mono gets updated whenever I do an update via yum. I noticed on the mono web site that it shows a slig...

Mono/Cumulus process getting into a high CPU state and losing comms

Hi there We are experiencing a problem with CumulusMX with the Mono instance that is running Cumulus MX as a service. The problem started about 2-3 months ago and is random, but when it happens the Mono/CumulusMX process starts consuming all available CPU power and at the same time it loses comms wi...

Re: Data Input Appears to Have Stopped - Davis VantagePro2 with a USB connection

So a further update... I happened to be working on the server when the data input appeared to stop. Looking around, one of the things I immediately noticed was that the Mono process was consuming all of the available CPU. When I stopped the CumulusMX process, the mono process also stopped and the CP...

Re: Data Input Appears to Have Stopped - Davis VantagePro2 with a USB connection

The other thing that might be worth mentioning is that when CumulusMX is operating normally, the systemctl stop cumulusmx command executes very quickly (within a second). When contact with the station has been lost, the attempt to stop the service can take between 30 and 60 seconds. As mentioned pre...

Re: Data Input Appears to Have Stopped - Davis VantagePro2 with a USB connection

Thanks for the replies :-) Yes, initially I re-seated the USB cable and later I did try a different cable to be sure. I am indeed running CentOS and after checking the control and autosuspend_delay_ms files for the USB port that the weather station is connected to, both are set to values which disab...

Data Input Appears to Have Stopped - Davis VantagePro2 with a USB connection

Hi there So I was running version 3122 since it was released and I recently started experiencing problems with CumulusMX losing contact with the Davis VantagePro2 weather station I have which is connected via a USB data logger. In the console log, everything appears to work fine for a random period ...

Re: Issue upgrading from 3096 to 3122

Hi David and sfws

Thanks for replying and for the information and background - very useful. I tried the upgrade again (taking note of the advice on the wiki that was highlighted) and after about 10 minutes the relevant settings were visible and everything is now working perfectly.

Regards

Richard

Issue upgrading from 3096 to 3122

Hi there I just tried to upgrade CumulusMX running on a linux platform from 3096 to 3122. I used the recommended method of making a backup copy of everything and then copying the contents of the new distribution over the top of the old one. After the upgrade everything appeared to work fine and the ...

Changing Log Roll Over Time

Hi there I've been running CumulusMX for many years now, with data also being stored in a MySQL database so that I have a longitudinal data series for my area. My current configuration has the logs rolling over at midnight. My preference would be to roll the logs over at 9.00am (which would then ali...

Re: Server Generated Graphs for MX

Hi there I've been using the server side graphs that are generated using jpGraph for a number of years. After doing an update for PHP to 7.3.16, they suddenly stopped working and I now get a jpGraph error of 25092. This error suggests there is a configuration problem with TrueType or a problem with ...

Upgrading from 3043 to 3062

Hi there I’ve been running CumulusMX 3.0.0 Build 3043 for a while now which was the last release before Steve retired. I’m looking to upgrade my version of CumulusMX to the latest version which is 3.2.6 build 3062. Looking through the update file there are a bunch of files that have been progressive...

Re: Instability when using an extra USB to Serial adapter

Hi Steve The system does create a separate serial device of /dev/ttyUSB1 for the extra USB to Serial adapter (with the Davis USB Console being /dev/ttyUSB0). Good point on the powered hub. I'll plug one in as part of my testing to see whether that makes a difference. I'm also going to experiment wit...

Re: Degraded allocation warning messages

Hi Steve I've been looking over various logs and one thing out of the ordinary which I have noticed in the CumulusMX log in the MXdiags directory is a few messages along the lines of: Error uploading realtime.txt to cudata/realtime.txt : Access is denied. When I look at the FTP Log within CumulusMX ...
