Re: New Sensor Location

Re the Stephenson screen for the sensor unit. This is a cheap, easy and effective solution. Wickes's sell lengths of soil pipe, intended to be cut to fit between the toilet bowl and the O/g sewer pipe. It's wonderful stuff! It comes in a length of about 900mm, is about 3mm thick and the inside of th...

Re: using a still pic instead of WEBCAM

Many tks for getting back to me but I'm floundering! This is far deeper than I expected. I'll put it on hold for a bit I think while I sort myself out.

using a still pic instead of WEBCAM

I've just tried out a webcam but it was more suited to Skype and far too wide an angle lens for weathercam use. Until such time as I can afford a decent external surveillance camera I'd like to show an occasional still pic. But I've no idea how to do that! Do I just enter an address, such as ...

Re: Connecting to web

Yes, OK Dave. Took a look at your website. Pretty fancy stuff Dave! Very nice indeed. So where do you derive the forecast from? I'm also being asked by people how the cloud base is measured?

Re: Connecting to web

All corrected now Dave. Many thanks. Do you know Mike Soames who is another of Ian Fergusson's weather watchers. Mike lives up your way.

Re: Connecting to web

:) All OK now! The webhost has sorted out the problem. Dave was right on the mark. Things are now in the right directories and I've got RealTime working as well so that the windgauges update every 60 seconds. The main update is every 10 minutes while I see how much bandwidth it's using up. Maybe I'l...

Re: Connecting to web

OK! I'll chase it up with Ian at Summerleaze Computers in Taunton who is the host for the website. Greetings to Water 01. I'm not many miles away at Combwich on the coast 4 miles outside Bridgwater.

Re: Connecting to web

Herewith a jpg of the Internet settings.
I'll go take a look at the website and see what the html file is as suggested by Water 01. I'm sure this is something pretty simple.

Re: Connecting to web

I'll gladly send you a screenshot but I regret to say I've forgotten how to do that Steve. I did say I was 82! :( The autoupdate box was ticked and I've since tried the webupdate and it sent a stream of info to line, logged in and loaded it up, then logged out. So it seems to be more a case of a pro...

Connecting to web

:?: It's that newbie again! I've loaded the 5 folders and files to the website and put them in the root. I've entered the site info into Configuration - Internet and ticked the boxes to the best of my ability but nothing seems to be reaching the website? Is there a magic GO button some place I've mi...

Re: re: re: Rainfall corrections again.

I understand Steve. After reading the Help notes I thought that was how it was but a friend more into such things than I said otherwise. I feel much more confident about having a go at setting up online now. Could that be your cue to take 4 weeks holiday on a South Sea island with no internet? LOL! ...

Re: Rainfall corrections again.

OK! Sorted. :D There were two tiny errors in the dayfile.txt rainfall amounts. I corrected them and all is now fine. I wanted to really know what I was doing as there was no point in putting the station online until I was confident it was reasonably accurate. In that respect I've been told that the ...

Re: Rainfall corrections again.

:? Well I've done that Steve and edited both the dayfile.txt and then today.ini with Cumulus stopped. On restart that corrected the 'yesterday' figure and the yearly total but not the 'this month' total.

Rainfall corrections again.

OMG! It's the newbie again! At 9.00 today my 5" jar reading exceeded the electronic raingauge by 2.9mm. So I need to manually correct 'Yesterday's' rainfall reading. I'm scared stiff of changing the wrong thing. Since this looks like being a daily thing please tell me the right way to make the ...
